  1. Yay!! Another Tzuri triumph on the road of life. Yes, your little girl was magnificent, and a lot better in the fuss than many. I think they get a little off guard from being with total strangers doing all this personal stuff and the parent standing by smiling (or crying) with encouragement and approval. I cannot count the number of cats in my care who roamed the earth with only one clipped paw’s nails out of four possible. They’d start to scream and I’d start to weep and it was all over. I’d have a more professional attitude with emergencies, something that HAD to be done, but if it began with, You know…we ought to trim your nails….it didn’t always work into a complete job. It’s lovely to see her growing up, learning new things, and hear your gentle loving voice with her. You’ve both been very brave. Congratulations!

  2. Thanks Barbara, Eleanor, and Gunta. That episode was so painful for me to watch that I am conflicted as to whether to ever schedule her again or not. “It hurts me worse than it does you” – isn’t that what parents say?

    1. The groomers originally said since I didn’t have my rabies certificate with me (it was in the car) they would muzzle her. But they must have sized up her personality – which they are probably good at since they had all their fingers intact – and not only didn’t but, like you say, acted very nonchalant with her.

  3. I have opted for grinding Blanca’s (black) nails down with a dremel. That way I cannot hurt her, can avoid putting her through experiences like this and can do it myself. My old dog Sadie would just lay there and nap while I did it. Blanca requires a little more patience … still working on it! Tzuri did show a great personality here!

  4. Not sure what grinding entails but I will look into it. In the meantime I am slowly trying to condition her to accepting such treatment calmly and without struggle. After all, it doesn’t really hurt her, she just doesn’t like restraint. Thanks…
