Vietnam Memorial

Vietnam Chapel, Angel Fire NM

This chapel built by a father in memory of his son predates the Wall in Washington, DC. It is located in Angel Fire, NM, and I visit it each time I pass through. The architectural thrust of the walls across vast expanse toward distant mountains I find very effective.

  1. Remarkable looking, and the sky in concert. I’ve never seen this, I believe it far superior to the one in Washington, DC. In fact I’d say he has a case for plageurism but the east coast one doesn’t have this very moving courage to it. Beyond that, to know a father built it for his son and the added quality of a kind of launch to the stars is really something. How often in every life do really splendid ideas get carried to fruition. He thought it and he did it.
Thank you so much for posting this. I’m glad you make pilgrimages and can understand why. I hope you send him your photo. I’ll bet it’s the best one of it.
